In recent years it has been recognized that not only central venous catheters but also arterial catheters are a frequent source of hospital-acquired bloodstream infection. Staphylococcus aureus bacteraemia with septic emboli is a serious complication of a radial artery catheter.
We describe a patient with arterial catheter-related Staphylococcus aureus bacteraemia.
